Dear readers and contributors,
I hope this message finds you all well wherever you are in the world. I am writing to share an important update about the future of Nabillera. As many of you are aware, our beloved magazine has not published a new issue since 2022. This pause has been due to a combination of financial difficulties and personal commitments.
Although Nabillera is a non-profit magazine, covering the minimum running costs is essential to support our contributors. I want to say thank you to all our readers, contributors, and supporters who have stood by Nabillera out of their love for Korean literature. Your input, support and passion for literature have been the backbone of our magazine so far.
The complexities surrounding copyrights, coupled with our ongoing financial challenges, have made it increasingly difficult to sustain regular publications. In light of these circumstances, I have made the difficult decision to hold further publication of Nabillera until we can find a viable alternative to run the magazine again. This does not mean the end of Nabillera; it is a necessary pause before we restart. I hope that day will come soon.
As an academic, I teach and research language and literature. Translation and educating future translators remain my long-term goals. I am committed to ensuring that Nabillera’s mission, which encourages the involvement of emerging translators, continues to thrive.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. I am confident that Nabillera will return stronger and more enthusiastic than ever, ready to continue our shared mission of promoting Korean literature.
Best wishes,
Eugene Kim
Editor-in-Chief, Nabillera
