As we mark the soft launch of this issue in recognition of International Women’s Day and its call to Give to Gain, Nabillera turns toward the idea of reciprocity: what we offer one another through language, what we inherit, and what becomes possible when knowledge is carried forward through care, mentorship, and translation.

I hope this message finds you all well wherever you are in the world.

Living as a minor is not easy. But if you take a frank approach to it, if not with a bold affirmation for your life- your condition turns into a singular story and suddenly builds a great sense of connectedness with others out there.

Two weeks after my second dose of vaccine, my then ten-month-old baby and I retreated to Incheon, my hometown in South Korea, reluctantly leaving my husband in London.

In Issue 5, we will continue to introduce this frisky yet skillful spirit by featuring the genres we have never published before: a novella and literary criticism.

What is “analrealism?”
What does it mean for an anus, a deep, invisible void, to be real?

By translating and introducing the works of these young and established novelists, I hope not only to present the recent trend in Korean literature, but also to channel the voices of Korean women around the globe and empower their movement.
